Palm Sunday
Zechariah 9:9-12

The Question: "If your heart was a little car, who is sitting in the driver’s seat? Are you trying to steer by yourself, or are you letting the King take the wheel?"

  • Parent Talk: This prophecy shows us that Jesus is a different kind of King. He doesn’t use force or fancy chariots; He uses gentleness. To "lay down a palm branch" means identifying an area where we try to rule ourselves (like our temper or our toys) and letting Jesus lead instead.
  • Breaking it Down: In the Bible, kings usually rode big, scary war horses. But Jesus chose a slow, humble donkey. He wants to rule our hearts with peace, not by being a bully. When we give Him our "palm branch," we are saying, "You are a better boss than I am!"
  • Guided Prayer: Jesus, I lay down my way today. I don’t want to be the boss of my own life. Please sit in the driver's seat of my heart and lead me with Your peace. Amen.
Monday
Matthew 21:12-17

The Question: "If Jesus walked into the 'room' of your heart today, would He find it full of noisy, selfish clutter, or a quiet space where He can heal you?"

  • Parent Talk: Jesus cleared the Temple because the noise and greed were keeping people away from God. He "cleans house" in our lives for the same reason—He wants to remove our distractions so He can get close enough to heal us and hear our prayers.
  • Breaking it Down: Imagine your room is so messy you can’t even find your bed. That’s what the Temple was like! Jesus cleared the tables so the hurting people could reach Him. When we ask Him to help us with our bad attitudes or selfishness, He clears the mess so we can see Him clearly.
  • Guided Prayer: Lord, please help me clear the clutter in my heart. Take away my grumpy words and selfish thoughts so that I have plenty of room for You. Amen.
Tuesday
John 12:24-26

The Question: "If a little seed stayed safe and dry in a jar, would it ever turn into a giant sunflower?"

  • Parent Talk: To get fruit, a seed has to "die" to its old life in the jar. Jesus is explaining that by giving up His life, He would bring life to the whole world. He asks us to do the same: let go of our selfish "seed" life to grow into something beautiful.
  • Breaking it Down: A seed has to be buried in the dark dirt to grow. Sometimes, following Jesus feels like "burying" what we want (like letting someone else go first). But God doesn't leave us in the dirt; He turns that choice into a beautiful garden of kindness.
  • Guided Prayer: Jesus, thank You for being the seed that died for me. Help me to be brave enough to give up my way so I can grow to be more like You. Amen.
Wednesday
Matthew 26:6-13

The Question: "If you had one thing that was your absolute favorite, would you be willing to give it all away just to show Jesus you love Him?"

  • Parent Talk: The woman with the alabaster jar gave her most expensive treasure. People called it a waste, but Jesus called it beautiful. It teaches us that giving our time, our love, or our best efforts to Jesus is the best way to spend them.
  • Breaking it Down: Imagine saving all your allowance for a year and then buying a gift for Jesus. That’s what this lady did! She poured out expensive perfume on His head because she knew He was the King. We can "pour out" our best—like our best attitude—just for Him.
  • Guided Prayer: Lord, You are worth more than any treasure. Help me to give You my very best—my best words, my best love, and my whole heart. Amen.
Thursday
Mark 14:22-25

The Question: "Why do you think Jesus used bread and juice to help us remember Him instead of a statue or a picture?"

  • Parent Talk: This is the New Covenant. Jesus wanted us to take Him in. Just as bread gives our bodies energy, Jesus’ sacrifice gives our spirits life. It’s a physical way to remember that His body was broken and His blood was shed to make us new.
  • Breaking it Down: When we eat bread, it becomes part of us! Jesus was saying, "I want to be part of you." The bread reminds us of His body, and the juice reminds us His blood makes us clean. He is the food our souls need to be strong and happy.
  • Guided Prayer: Thank You, Jesus, for the bread and the cup. Thank You for giving Your life so that I can have life with You forever. Amen.
Good Friday
Isaiah 53:3-5

The Question: "If you got a scrape on your knee, but someone else felt the 'ouch' for you, how would that make you feel?"

  • Parent Talk: This is called substitution. Jesus took the punishment we deserved so we could have the peace He deserved. He was "wounded for our transgressions" so that we could be healed.
  • Breaking it Down: Imagine you broke a window, but your big brother stepped in and took the "time-out" so you wouldn't have to. Jesus took the "time-out" for all the wrong things we do. Because He took the hurt, we get to be God’s friends.
  • Guided Prayer: Jesus, I am so sorry for the wrong things I do. Thank You for taking my "ouch" on the cross so I can be clean and whole. Amen.
Saturday
Psalm 31:14-15

The Question: "When you’re waiting for something exciting, do you ever get worried it won't come? Who is in charge of time?"

  • Parent Talk: On the Saturday after Jesus died, the disciples were scared and waiting. But this Psalm reminds us that our "times are in His hand." God is never late, and He is never surprised by what happens.
  • Breaking it Down: Sometimes we want things right now, or we are scared of what happens tomorrow. But God is like a giant hand holding our whole lives. He knows exactly when to help us and exactly what we need. We can rest because He is in control.
  • Guided Prayer: God, I trust You. Even when I’m scared or waiting, I know my life is in Your hands. You have the perfect timing for everything. Amen.
Easter Sunday
Matthew 28:1-10

The Question: "If you went to a garden and saw a giant rock move by itself, what would be the first thing you’d say?"

  • Parent Talk: This is the victory! The tomb was empty, and Jesus is alive. This proves He is the King of everything—even death. Because He rose, we know that everything He promised us is true.
  • Breaking it Down: The tomb was empty! The angel told the friends, "He is not here; He has risen!" Jesus is alive right now. He didn't stay in the ground; He came back to lead us forever. Now, we don't have to be afraid of anything!
  • Guided Prayer: Hallelujah! Jesus, You are alive! Thank You for beating death and for promising that I will live with You forever. You are my King! Amen.
