Dear Church Family and Friends of CrossWinds Church,
Things are sure moving fast in our world in response to COVID-19 Pandemic. Just last week we were being advised to keep our group meetings to less than 250 in attendance, while today it's less than 10! Movie theaters and restaurants have closed, schools have shut down, high-risk groups are self-quarantined, and everyone is encouraged to maintain a distance of 3 to 6 feet from others! For the next few weeks, until we get through this, (and we will get through this!) this is the reality we're living with.
But, as I've been saying all along, God's got this! COVID-19 didn't take Him by surprise. In fact, I'm beginning to see what we're going through as less of a burden and more of an opportunity! This isn't the first time God's people have had to minister under trying circumstances. In fact, right now millions of Christians around the world are serving Him in hostile situations; COVID-19 conditions are normal for them every day! And despite that, the gospel is spreading dramatically through them! In a similar way I believe we're going to see God do some amazing things in and through us in these next few weeks,in fact, I'm already seeing it!
Let me briefly share with you some of the changes, AND opportunities, we're going to experience for the next few weeks. Until further notice, here is what we'll be doing in response to this crisis
- On Sunday Mornings we'll be hosting church services online only. Do not come to the church building.
You can access our Live Stream on the Church Webpage or Church App.
Its the same service times: 9:00 am Traditional Service and 10:45 am Contemporary Service.
There will be live worship and Pastor Paul or I will also be preaching live.
We have material for children that can be accessed here. Contact Hallie Davis, our Childrens Director, for questions related to our ministry to kids.
Join us each Sunday online as a family, and invite others to join online as well. We've prepared an invitation on our Church Facebook page that you can send out to those in your world, inviting them to our Online Service.
- All other meetings at this time will be postponed, cancelled, or moved to an online format as well.
Some Life Groups will not be meeting, while others will transition to a digital meeting. The Life Group Leaders will be in touch with their groups.
Most other groups, (Sunday School Classes, Student Ministries, Bible Studies, Ministry Teams, etc.) will also not meet physically. Again, the leaders of those groups will be contacting their members.
Some events are being cancelled: The BABR Ladies Mission trip, a large group who was going to stay at the church on their way to Mexico, etc.
At this point we're not sure what the future holds for our Good Friday and Easter Services. Obviously, they won't be cancelled, but well have to see what the next few weeks look like before we can make plans for gathering, either in-person or online. We'll make sure you know what's happening.
Our church body is taking care of itself, AND the people in our worlds!
Our people have already been making calls and reaching out to anyone who needs any assistance.
We are gathering supplies at the church for those who are in need: food, paper goods, etc.
You can go to the Church App and click on Helping Hands to either request assistance or offer aid to others.
Your giving is still important. Please do so either on the Church App or Webpage, (or even snail mail.) We know that this is a difficult time for some, what with work stoppages, etc. Just give what you can, (and some of us can probably even give a little more!) Do as weve seen in II Corinthians 1:7 - give cheerfully what youve purposed in your heart to give, but not grudgingly or under compulsion.
Pastor Paul and I have prepared a short video message, which is posted on our Webpage. Check it out, and feel free to share it with others.
If you have any questions, concerns or even suggestions, our Office Staff is still on duty. You can call the Office at any time. Please know that the Elders and Staff are also here to serve you.
Above all, lets be in prayer for this entire situation. Pray for your Church Leaders, that we would have wisdom as we make decisions affecting the entire body. Pray for our National, State and Local Leaders, that they would also have wisdom in the decisions theyre making. Pray for those who are sick, that God would heal them. Pray for protection for those of us who are well. Pray for the many who are anxious, depressed, and downright scared, that they would turn to the One who gives peace that passes understanding, (Philippians 4:7.) Above all, pray for those in Your World, that this might be an opportunity for us to make an eternal impact in their lives!
As weve been seeing for the past year and a half in I and II Corinthians, THIS is what it means to Be the Church in the 21st Century! I believe Gods doing something really good hereand we get to be a part of it! Ill be talking more about that this Sunday at 9:00 and 10:45 am! Im praying that you (and hopefully many in Your World) are with us.
Together, in HIS Service,
